HCL 5: The Quarter Pounder Finals (with Cheese) was the fifth mixed martial arts event held by the Human Cockfighting League. The event took place on Sunday, July 29, 2012 from the Wisconsin Bureau of Dairy Affairs Conference Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
This event featured six sanctioned mixed martial arts bouts, all of which consisted of three five-minute rounds. All fights on this card were quarterfinals in the Heavyweight, Light Heavyweight and Welterweight championship tournaments.
Little league dad Ralph Marshall used a strong ground-and-pound strategy to neutralize Victor Young, who, despite a late charge in the third round, fell to a pair of uppercuts that dazed him enough to cause the referee to stop the fight. In the second contest, Johan Ponce caught prison inmate TJ McAllister with a kimura in the first round, getting the submission victory.
Paul Bunyip impressed once again with a knockout victory over Peter Oliveira, who was unable to close the distance and take the fight to the ground. A knee to the face rocked him early, but after recovering, Oliveira went to sleep after getting hit with a strong right hook. In the fourth fight, Jorgi Magumbo and Jon-Joe Winchester traded their hardest punches. Magumbo showed off his ever-improving ground game, but ultimately, the Muay Thai expertise got the TKO win.
In the co-main event, Curtis Prancer defeated Aaron Blue by unanimous decision, winning two of three rounds in the judges' eyes, with a mix of effective wrestling and strong kickboxing, nearly submitting Blue with an armbar in the second. Blue made a comeback in the third round, but it was not enough to sway the judges.
The main event of HCL 5 pitted Francois Gorgonzola against Dwayne De Recha in the last welterweight quarter-final. These two stood up for the entire first round trading strikes, when De Recha caught Gorgonzola with an uppercut at the end of the round to knock him to the mat. The second round started the same way, with Gorgonzola caught with a left hook early, and a four-punch combo to drop Gorgonzola for the eventual referee stoppage.
