HCL 2: Again... Why? |
HCL 1: The First Mistake was the inaugural mixed martial arts event held by the Human Cockfighting League. The event took place on Sunday, May 19, 2012 from the Tupelo Events Center & Honey Warehouse in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Event
This event featured six sanctioned mixed martial arts bouts, all of which consisted of three five-minute rounds.
The first fight in HCL history featured Corgi van de Groof taking on "Dirty" David Duritz. Van de Groof's kickboxing acumen proved to be far too much for Duritz, who fell late in the second round to punches and a TKO loss.
The next fight saw Leo Serengeti defeat Salvador Topanopoulos by decision in a very lackluster performance. However, the crowd was won back in the third fight, as Stuart Peppers scored a brutal uppercut knockout on Gabriel Holliday, after three rounds of even-matched action.
TJ McAllister surprised many by soundly defeating soap star Alejandro Sandoval in the second round, and Teddy "The Bull" Grabowski repeatedly rocked Ishmael Bowerstern before gaining a TKO victory early in the second round in the co-main event.
The main event, however, went the distance, as Jon-Joe Winchester tried to ground recluse Albert Munch, whose relentless attack proved too much for the former Klansmen. Munch gained a unanimous decision by winning two of the three rounds.
As with all debut shows, this one was not without its issues. The broadcast feed was very choppy, and cut out a few times during the show. The resulting broadcast was saved by Twitch in multiple pieces, with poor quality. Unfortunately, these pieces were not salvaged, and so the event is lost in the annals of history.
From a non-storyline standpoint, this was the only show that had not been partially pre-recorded, and the multiple aspects involved with running the broadcast caused bandwidth issues that affected the broadcast.
